David Pluskat (co-owner of CL Films) began creating client driven video productions in high school for the city of Lakewood and Bellflower Unified School District. As an undergraduate in the Film and Electronic Arts Department at California State University Long Beach, David spent his time absorbing everything he could on the aspects of filming, directing and producing video media. He graduated summa cum laude from the prestigious bachelors program. During that time he was awarded a prominent internship at Sony Pictures Studio's Post Production Department, where he worked on films such as Disney’s The Kid, Charlie’s Angels and much more. Moving from the internship he was hired by Advanced Media Productions TV on the campus of CSULB as a freelance videographer and editor where his shows were and still are seen on the university cable TV station. He also taught editing to Long Beach residents at the city's public access station.

Then David met Kelsey Klewenhagen (the other co-owner of CL Films) who at the time was studying for her undergraduate in communications at CSULB. Her love for the craft was also exemplified by her work as a production assistant to the famous PBS Television show California’s Gold with Huell Howser. There she worked on storyboarding, scheduling and all of the pre-production aspects that made the show the success it was. She would continue to be a key asset for the next 4 years in the launch of 2 other television programs made for KCET: California’s Golden Parks and California’s Green.

In 2004 David and Kelsey decided to pool their resources together and start their own production company, Charles Lauren Films. The name was founded in the co-owners middle names, “Charles” and “Lauren.” This dynamic duo would go on to rock the world of corporate, commercial and event video production. Their list of clients is well rounded from the Boeing Corporation, Muzeo of Anaheim, The City of Long Beach, Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden, The Long Beach Arts Council, We Tell Stories and much much more. They’ve won numerous industry awards proving that their ability is unsurpassed.
